I'm Mona, owner of Mount Tabor Pet Care. I completed my bachelors degree in Psychology in 2009, and was working in a vet clinic prior to starting my pet sitting business. While I loved the idea of working with animals, I recognized that a trip to the vet can be stressful for pets, and I wanted to work with them in a way that felt positive and fun. I decided to start doing pet sitting and dog walking, and I opened my business in September of 2013.
Right away I was delighted to find that business ownership felt very natural to me, and gave me a sense of pride in myself that working for other businesses never did. I was also pleased by how easy it was for people and their pets to quickly establish a sense of trust in me. I believe that my background in psychology and customer service gave me the skills I needed to establish good communication and form strong relationships with clients. I have always loved animals, and through my empathic nature, have come to see myself as a natural caregiver.
I feel gratified when people tell me how relieved they are to have someone they can trust and rely on to take care of their homes and pets while they're away. I also feel very fortunate to have created a business that allows me to do something I truly enjoy: helping neighbors, building community, and working with people and animals in a way that feels personal and meaningful. After six years of pet sitting, I still love it and am grateful for all the joy and blessings it has brought to my life.
I am a licensed business owner in the city of Portland, and have pet sitting insurance through Pet Sitters Associates, LLC.
